Weekend In Pictures

Started the weekend off here:

Worked all day Saturday.

Acquired this on Sunday:

I'm going to be stylin' cruising around the DT streets. Perhaps I'll gain a new perspective as a cyclist. I currently loathe all the bike-riders in my 'hood. Especially those that bolt right out in front of my car and then give me the stink eye. This lady does not need a lawsuit.

Sunset at Shem Creek on Sunday

Yowza. Red's was slammed when we arrived. I tried to make the best of our 1.5 hour wait by checking out all of the boats passing by. I don't know if you can see in the picture, but this couple had SEVEN yellow labs on their little boat. Seven. It was OOC. Bless their hearts for housing all those pups. Wish I could have more.

Speaking of,

Look at that face! What a doll baby! Cooper was tuckered out after the flurry of visitors and friends this weekend. He crashed on the couch all day yesterday.

Kongratulations

At this point, I'm sure everyone is aware that Kim Kardashian's now engaged to b-baller, Kris Humphries. The proposal actually happened about a week ago, but naturally, could only be revealed at the right time (and for the right $$$$$).
The ring? A jaw-dropping 20.5 carats. According to Lorraine Schwartz, jeweler to many a cleb, the rock cost over $2 million. That is larger and more expensive than the now Duchess of Cambridge. Schwartz (via EOnline) also said size was important because big diamonds are Kim's passion. WTF. Are large jewels not every woman's passion?!

Humphries earnings last year? Just over $3 million. Seems a bit excessive, no?

'Best Sellers'

I love the internet. I rely on the www for various different purposes: communication, news, shopping, entertainment, etc, etc. When it comes to shopping and must-have items, there is one site I look at to point me in the right direction:

Saks 5th Avenue 'Best Sellers' lists, particularly the Apparel and Accessories depts.

This weeks finds:

Miller Thong

Rattan Clutch

Longchamp Tote (I don't think I've ever not seen this on this list)

DVF Shirtdress

JBrand Ankle-length Skinnies (no surprise here!)

Side-Cross Necklace,
which reminds of that she-devil, Taylor, from the Rachel Zoe Project

And, for the man in your life...

Classic Lacoste Polo

RL Driving Mocs

*All images courtesy Saks.com

Go ahead and judge me for relying on one web address to point me in the direction of all the up to the minute trends. But, I greatly appreciate the convenience of their weekly lists.

What are your go-to sites for the lastest fashions?

OC Recap

Last night's episode of RHOOC was quite dramatic. I'd truly be an ice queen if I didn't admit I felt a tad sorry for Vicky when she confessed her marital woes to Tamra. My sympathy only lasted a couple of minutes though. Because frankly, I just don't like either of them. They are just catty, mean-spirited and negative. At least producers took it easy of the Tamra/Eddie scenes.

In an interview with Radar Online, Vicki's son, Michael, discusses how Vicki's work has negatively impacted their relationship. No surprise there.

Also featured in this episode was the unveiling of 'Alexis Couture'. I'm fairly sure that no one but Alexis Bellino could wear those dresses. Holy shortness!

And can we just cut the whole Christian act? At this point, we all know its bogus.

The RH's love them some shameless self-promotion! Enter Gretchen's handbag line:

I used to be a fan, but she's grating my nerves this season. Oh, and we also learned on Watch What Happens Live that the reason why she and Slade haven't had kids yet is because he's "snipped". EW. I could have done without knowing/hearing about that.

In previews for next week, we finally get to see the scene where Tamra loses her s*** on Jeana Keough. Meow. Looks crazy and I cannot wait!

F21 Success

On Saturday morning, I decided to brave the crowds at F21, in order to pick up a few pieces I've been wanting to try...

Nautical Romper

I got 2 skirts like this- one in navy and one in black. They weren't this short either.

On a side note, what's the cut-off age for these? I feel like I'm almost too old to wear this kind of skirt. Maybe it's because the average age of the shoppers on Saturday was 16...

Looks great with white jeans.
I needed a new pair of black sandals and well, these fit the bill. $25? Toss 'em in!
TOTAL impulse buy. Odds are these won't even see the outside of my house.
Although most of these items will likely fall apart after one or two wears, I like the idea of being able to try different trends without breaking the bank.

Headboard Pics!

Finally! The headboard is finished. Well, at least, I am finished with it. It's not perfect, but over all I'm satisfied with the results.

In case anyone is wondering it took about 6 hours total to complete. If you're not DIY-challenged like myself, it could take substantially less time.

(Excuse the hastily made bed)

I hope everyone has a fab weekend! We're starting off the day with a nice walk to Brittlebank Bank Park, so the pooch can go for a little swim. And then perhaps some pool time this afternoon. This lady needs a tan (other than that which comes from a bottle)!

Animal Haters

I just don't understand why some people have pets.

As we were driving home from kickball tonight, we saw a dog wandering down the middle of the street(Downtown) with a huge rope around his neck, dragging about 10 feet behind him. Poor guy was a mess- dirty, mangy, disoriented, and clearly scared of humans. Mark was trying to coax him over to see if he had tags, when all of the sudden this man whips around the corner and starts threatening us. With a pitch fork (seriously). He said it was his dog and we were on his property? Hmm. I dont think so. After a few exchanges we decided to drive away, but I felt so terrible for the pup.

I have seen this numerous times in the area where we live and it makes me so mad! Much worse than tonight, actually.

One of the dogs we found wandering the DT streets:

Luckily, he was microchipped.

One of our old 'neighbors' kept his dog chained to a staircase outside. Another 'neighbor' down the street let his kids beat their dog with metal chains. In the front yard.

What is wrong with people?

I completely understand if one is not an animal person. I know many that aren't. But why get a pet if you're not going to love and care for it? That's all they really want.

I gave Cooper lots of hugs and kisses when we got home. I know he appreciates it :)

Sweet Moments

I texted this picture to Mark at 12:30 this afternoon to let him know that I had demolished an entire bag of these addicting treats. It was a shameful/satisfying moment. Maybe next time I'll be able to exercise some portion control?

Obvs, that's not Cooper, but this is all he's been doing for the past week or so. The scratching and licking is driving me insane! No, he doesn't have fleas, but the vet does think our poor pooch has allergies. She suggested giving him Benadryl, but that isn't doing the trick either. Any pet owners have a better idea?!

They're Baaaaccckkk

RHONJ premieres tonight! They aren't usually my favorite cast, but I have a feeling this season is going to be a doozy. I think it's fair to say that Teresa alone, will create some epic drama. Here's a brief rundown, courtesy Bravo:

"Season 3 is all about family as Teresa Giudice, Caroline Manzo, and her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Laurita, all return and welcome new housewives Melissa Gorga, Teresa's sister-in-law, and Kathy Wakile, Teresa's first cousin. The drama picks up where last season left off when holidays are celebrated, children leave the nest and tensions run high between housewives."

The newbies

Kathie Walkie

Melissa Gorga

In other news, my headboard is almost done. My fingers were so sore today (seriously) from repeatedly getting banged with the hammer. *Note to self for future projects- harness hammer skills before nailing in 250+ tacks.

Here's a sneak preview of the finished product....

Weekend Project

Stevenson Nailhead Headboard

We have been working ALL DAY trying to replicate the above headboard. Now I understand why people would pay $$$$ for the catalog version. It is hard work.  I'm confident the finished product will look great, but wowza, I am exhausted. I can't even count how many times I've hammered my finger and subsequently dropped the F-bomb this afternoon.

Pictures to come later this week (hopefully?!).

I am looking forward to RHOOC tonight. Tamra will be "setting the record straight" with Jeana Keough. What's new? I wish she would just shut it for one episode.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Catalog Shopping

Ever since we got married, we've been receiving a plethora of catalogs- Pottery Barn, Ballard Design, Frontgate, Williams Sonoma, etc. etc.

While I thoroughly enjoy browsing them, many of the items are WAY out of my league.

Exhibit A:

Outdoor Wicker Pet Bed

Outdoor wicker pet bed.

What pet wouldn't love this? $600 price tag. Notsomuch.

Or, perhaps, a SpaCapsule?

SpaCapsule ® Massage System
A mere $28,000.

Do people really buy these things? Call me crazy, but I think I'd rather have a normal massage (or 100 at that price tag)!

Royal 'Moon

The new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have left for their top-secret honeymoon!

According to various media outlets, they're headed for

the Seychelles, a string of islands off the coast of Africa.

Based on the following photos, I don't think I'd mind a little vaca here, either!

Thanks for all you do :)

Rainy Day

Yesterday was my day off for the week. I was hoping to spend some time outside basking in the sun. Apparently, the weather gods had other plans. As the below iphone pics will show, there was no outdoor activity. Unless you count circling the block on King St. with my car window down.

I was trying to fnd a parking spot anywhere near my favorite DT bakery:

Then I came home to do some laundry with my fancy new washer.

And while I waited, I watched some re-runs of this

*If you haven't watched this, you're missing out! I was skeptical at first, now am absolutely obsessed.

Then I kicked my feet up and patiently waited for Mark to get home from work.

Mark so kindly repaired my TB sandals that someone decided to use as a chew toy last summer. Very happy to have them back!

Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We may or may not be firing up our industrial size Margarita maker in honor of the holiday....

And enjoying some tacos for dinner

Don't mind if I do!

And since tomorrow is my day off, I'll be headed downtown to do some summer shopping. Watch out King Street!
